Fabien PETIOT (Studio Beau Travail)

Unclassifiable, French designer Fabien Petiot (b. 1979) likes to play on all terrains. He joyfully mixes craft and design, art and writing, finding his balance when he embraces these different disciplines.

Trained in art history and industrial design, he has created his own universe, generous and at odds with fields that are a little too narrow for his taste. In 2013, he founded his own studio, designing lighting, furniture and objects that are both sculptural and narrative.

While he continues to pursue his multi-faceted activities - collaborating with the Mouvements modernes gallery, publishing books and articles, curating exhibitions - Fabien has moved to the Netherlands in search of new adventures. In 2020, he founded the Beau Travail publishing house in Utrecht, as an extension of his Paris studio. In the land of uninhibited Dutch design, Fabien combines the tradition of French decorative arts with the efficiency of Dutch industrial companies. Beau Travail enables him to publish his own creations, with designs that are both playful and sophisticated, inspired by nature, and more than ever multi-media: objects, lighting and furniture in unlimited series, art books, ceramics, drawings and graphic works.
